Keller fire in Graz: Fire brigade prevents worse!

In the night of December 19, 2024, the Ries district of Graz experienced a dramatic basement fire in a residential building. At 01:40 a.m., for so far unclear reasons, the fire broke out in the basement. Fortunately, all residents were already safe when the Graz professional fire brigade came up with 21 emergency services and six vehicles. The fire was quickly brought under control and reported as deleted at 02:00 a.m. Nobody was injured, but the exact cause of the fire remains the subject of further investigations, such as fireworld.at reported.

Just three years earlier, on February 26, 2022, a similar incident occurred in Grazer Kaiserfeldgasse, as guests and employees of a restaurant noticed a striking smoke development and the fire brigade alerted. Around 7:50 p.m., the professional fire brigade found at the arrival that the basement of the restaurant was heavily smoky. All people had already left the building unharmed. The emergency services had to proceed with special thermal imaging cameras to locate the fire area in a storage room, while high -performance fans led the toxic flue gases. The fire was finally deleted at 9:30 p.m., but the smoke extraction continued until midnight. Here, too, the cause of the fire is still unclear, such as Katastrophenschutz.graz.at reported.

Both incidents illustrate the important role of the fire brigade in the fast and effective fight against fires that occur in urban areas. Further investigations are pending to clarify the causes and prevent future incidents.
