Flood chaos on the banks of the Moselle: Savers bring two people to safety!
On January 9, 2025, the police were called to use the Moselle banks between Perl and Beschicht after a vehicle was included due to floods. The alarm was carried out by the 59-year-old driver, who reported the situation at around 6:00 p.m. by emergency call. The emergency call initially received the Luxembourg control center Rifo, who then informed the police in Saarbrücken.
A traffic police patrol that was nearby quickly reached the site. The affected vehicle, a small car with Luxembourg license plate, was about 40 to 50 cm deep water. Since the vehicle was not directly accessible, the officials had to penetrate on foot on the enclosed. The police received support from the water protection police.

The two people who were in the vehicle-the 59-year-old driver and a 49-year-old passenger-were brought out of the danger zone with an off-road police vehicle. The Perl volunteer fire brigade took over the rescue of the vehicle, in which 15 emergency services pulled the car with a fire truck from the flood area. Fortunately, both people remained unharmed.
The authorities use this incident to urgently warn of the driven out of flooded roads or paths.
