Große Mühl, Österreich - On April 2, 2025, the Rohrbach fire brigade was alerted in the Mühlviertel due to a serious incident. A large -scale exit of fuel, more precisely diesel and heating oil, was found in the area of the Great Mühl. On site, the emergency services immediately noticed a strong smell that indicated the severity of the incident. The situation required close cooperation with the police in order to initiate an equivalent measures and prevent the spread of the damage.
The alarm of other fire departments was inevitable due to the extent of the incident. A total of four fire departments moved out to stabilize the situation. In order to prevent the spread of the fuel in the large mill, four oil barriers were set up. In another incident that occurred in Waidhofen on the same day, the fire brigade was alerted at 1:30 p.m. after a truck lost hydraulic oil due to a defect. The incident occurred at a new motel, and it quickly turned out that the hydraulic management of the vehicle had burst. The oil not only ran on the road, but also left traces on the adjacent new bike path.

The employees of the new motel had already started to tie the oil trail when the fire brigade arrived. The fire brigade actively helped the measures in the area of the Mitterweg, while the affected truck was placed on a nearby company premises for repair. On the way there, however, the vehicle lost further oil. Bahnhofstrasse was also affected by the oil track and had to be treated with oil binder. The economic courtyard of the municipality of Waidhofen was informed about the incident and asked to draw up a danger table.
The events of the day underline the importance of the rapid reaction of emergency services in order to avoid environmental damage and dangers to the public. Protecting water must enjoy the highest priority, which illustrates the immediate measures of the fire brigade and the police.
