In the context of other fire events, it is important to mention that the Center for Fire Statistics of the CFIF (CFS-CTIF) has published extensive reports annually. The latest report No. 28 on 2023 contains data on fires from 38 states and 26 major cities and offers an analysis of the causes of fire in 66 countries. This illustrates the persistent importance of fire protection and the challenges that the emergency services have to face.
historical perspective and current initiatives
The Cifif project "100 Cities-100 Years" examines the development of urban fire risks over the last hundred year period. Important questions in this context include the number of fires and victims recorded as well as the perception of international risk trends. With the newly developed risk model for evaluating the fire risk, a comprehensive analysis and forecast of the fire situation can be created at national and global level. This data is essential to improve the handling of fire phenomena in urban centers.
The information and statistics collected from the past decades convey a clearer picture of the challenges that the fire brigade and emergency services have to cope with in daily use. The fire in Lustenau once again represents an alarm that underlines the need for effective fire protection and illuminates the importance of years of research and data collection in the field of fire protection.
