Great fire in Egg: 150 firefighters fight the flames!
Egg, Österreich - On Thursday, May 15, 2025, an old farm in Egg fell into full fire. The assignment was reported around 1:25 p.m. and mobilized around 150 firefighters from seven municipalities. In the building that was no longer used for agriculture, there were no people present at the time of the outbreak, which caused no injuries to complain. Fortunately, both residents were not in the house when the flames broke out.
operations manager Michael Berchtold reported that the building was already completely on fire when the fire brigade arrived. The top priority of the operation was the protection of adjacent buildings to prevent the flames from spreading. The difficult conditions, in particular the constantly changing wind, significantly made the extinguishing work significant and led to the course of the fire remained unpredictable.
report on the extinguishing work
The extinguishing water supply was fundamentally satisfactory. Nevertheless, there were problems because some water tanks were partly far away, which delayed the extinguishing work. The following fire departments were involved in the operation:
- Fire Brigade Egg
- fire brigade Großdorf
- Fire Brigade Alberschwende
- fire brigade musselbach
- Fire Brigade Andelsbuch
- fire brigade Schwarzenberg
- Fire Brigade Reuthe (with a mobile respiratory protection compressor)
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but the comprehensive use of the crisis forces testifies to the alert willingness of the local fire brigades in emergencies.
statistical contextualization
In the global context, the fire in EGG is not isolated. The current report of the CFS CTIF on fire statistics for 2022 shows that the number of fires and the associated operations vary globally. The report includes data from 55 countries and provides comprehensive analyzes of fire victims and deaths among firefighters. These statistics could also be important for the understanding of causes of fire in different regions and indicate the importance of preventive measures.
For further information on fire statistics and the possible causes of fires, the report can be downloaded directly on the homepage of the Center for Fire Brigade Statistics. The distribution of the fires according to the causes is shown in a clear table contained in the report.
