A rotor leaf falls from
In the Gänserndorf district, another, shocking event was reported on Tuesday evening at 6.40 p.m.: a rotor leaf of a wind turbine broke off and fell into a field. According to initial information, a third of the rotor blade of a Vestas V112 system, which has a height of 196 meters and a rotor diameter of 112 meters, was torn down from the top. The ruins were scattered in the field over an area of around 100 meters. This was one of the six wind turbines in the EVN Windpark Obersiebenbrunn, which was put into operation at the end of September 2019. The security measures around the position were immediately reinforced, and in addition to the police, EVN employees and technicians from the manufacturer Vestas were also on site to initiate the damage investigation. The incident is reminiscent of a similar one that took place in August of the previous year when a 45 -meter -long rotor leaf fell from a height of 100 meters, luckily without injuries, such as windwatch.org reported.
