Woman found dead after apartment fire in Leoben - investigations run

A woman was found lifeless with a tragic apartment fire in a single -family house on Kärntner Strasse in Leoben. The alarm went into Tuesday shortly after midnight when passers -by reported the fire. The fire brigade, emergency services and police immediately moved out. Although the emergency services of the volunteer fire brigades Leoben-Stadt, Leoben-Göss and Niklasdorf were able to control the fire after a hard fight, it was already too late for the woman. The emergency doctor attempts were unsuccessful, as the Kleine Zeitung reported.

The fire proved to be extensive room fire, which required intensive intervention by the fire brigade. Several respiratory protection teams were in use and a respiratory protection vehicle from the Voestalpine Donawitz company fire brigade was alerted. After about two hours the fire was deleted, but a fire security guard remained on site for safety until the morning. The Leoben public prosecutor has ordered an autopsy of the late wife to determine identity and the exact cause of death, as Meinzärt reported.

The police and the State Criminal Police Office Styria have taken over the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy. At the moment it is unclear whether the woman who lived in the house also lived in the apartment at the time of the fire. Comprehensive investigations are currently underway to illuminate the background of this tragic incident.
