Firefighters on the upswing: truck trial course conquers the region!
Grassau, Deutschland - In the districts of Traunstein and Rosenheim, an innovative truck trial training took place especially for women last weekend. Organized by the district fire brigade associations, the event aims to strengthen the commitment of women in volunteering and to inspire more women for the fire brigade. The response was overwhelming: there were more registrations than places. 18 women from the region were able to practice a large number of driving maneuvers with an impressive 10 meter long, 21 -ton trucks with 530 hp, which was provided by the Eggerl driving school, which also waived a fee.
The event took place on the company premises of the Achental Biomassenhof in Grassau. In addition to practical driving exercises, the participants had the opportunity to get to know technical details of the fire engines. Michael Bichler, a firefighter, explained the various technical facilities and was available to women for questions. "The day was perceived as very positive and well organized," reported the women's representative of the KFV Traunstein, Franziska Leitenbacher.
development and expansion of the offer
Leitenbacher expressed her regret about the limited number of participants and announced that the organizers would like to expand the offer for fire women in the future. The importance of networks and exchange among firefighters was emphasized to further strengthen the existing network in the region.
Jürgen Eggerl from the driving school praised the skills of the participants and described the day as "beautiful and funny." The Biomasshof, which also provided the site free of charge, provided catering during the event. As a thank you, the organizers received gift baskets from the participants.
The state of women in the fire brigade
Although women are present in many areas of society and the world of work, their share in the volunteer fire brigade is not high. Statistically speaking, there is only one woman in more than ten men in the volunteer fire brigade, and in the professional fire brigade the relationship is even up to 50 men. These imbalances are not objectively justified and show that there is a need for action.
The “Fire Brigade Demp” campaign is therefore actively committed to promoting women in male -dominated structures such as the fire brigade. The exchange between firefighters and the mutual support are also the cornerstones of these initiatives. Initiatives such as trial training in Traunstein and Rosenheim are in the right direction to increase the commitment and visibility of women in the fire brigade.
The interest in such events not only illustrates the motivation of women, but also shows that the topic of gender -friendly participation in the fire brigade is more urgent than ever. The next steps will be crucial to further promote this positive development.
