On the evening of February 7, 2025, a dramatic vehicle fire occurred on the A4 Ostutobahn in the Fischamend area. A 48-year-old Romanian driver was traveling towards Hungary at around 8:18 p.m. with a saddle vehicle when he was made aware of smoke development on his vehicle by another road user. Despite immediate attempts to extinguish the fire, a devastating fire was created, which quickly spread from the rear axis of the saddle trailer. The driver reacted promptly and coupled the burning trailer from his truck to avoid greater damage. The Fischamend fire brigade moved to fire fighting, supported by the Schwechat airport fire brigade. The extinguishing work was due to the burning chargue, which consisted of different wooden materials, over several hours, which resulted in significant traffic disruptions, such as reported.
A similar incident occurred on the A4 at the level of the airport, where a car burned out completely, but without injuries. This fire, which started under still unclear circumstances during the journey, was classified in the B2 category, which describes a medium -sized fire. Several FF Fishermen fire brigade were used for around two hours to fight the flames. According to the first reports, the wiped vehicle is probably a hybrid car.
