On Friday evening, February 7, 2025, a devastating fire broke out in a bungalow at a campsite in Estavayer-Le-Lac, which called on site the alarmed fire brigade, paramedics and police. The alarmed cantonal police Freiburg reported that around 10.30 p.m. the flames threatened to overlap on adjacent residential buildings. A prompt intervention of the fire brigade from Estavayer-Le-Lac and Cheyres prevented worse, while several police patrols were on site to secure the site and initiating first investigations. During the mission it turned out that a 70-year-old resident of the bungalow had suffered flue gas poisoning. Thanks to her quick escape, however, she was unharmed and was taken to the hospital for medical care.

Fire brigade use and damage balance

The fire destroyed the entire bungalow while an adjacent house was damaged. The affected person of the damaged house had to be accommodated in a new accommodation for the night.
