Grevesmühlen. A dramatic incident shook the school campus in Grevesmühlen on Tuesday morning! The fire alarm sounded at 7.30 a.m. when the smoke registration system jumped in the chemical area. Within a few minutes, 500 students and teachers evacuated the building and gathered on the meadow in front of the water tower school. The fire brigade moved in with breathing apparatus to clarify the cause of the alarm.

What had happened? The sensitive smoke registration system had triggered an experiment in chemistry lessons! Magnesium was burned during the lessons, which created a dense smoke cloud that triggered the alarm. In addition to the fire brigade, the police and ambulances were also on site because numerous people were in the building. The situation was serious, but the emergency services were quickly on hand.
