In the night of Sunday, November 10th, the Mainz fire brigade was alerted by a fire detector at 0:20 a.m. and hurried to an apartment fire in an apartment building on Draiser Strasse, Mainz-Bretzenheim. The situation was hot: thick smoke was already out of the affected apartment and was a serious danger.

The emergency services, including the professional fire brigade and the Bretzenheim volunteer fire brigade, had to fight through the dense smoke. Equipped with breathing apparatus, they searched the apartment for possible victims, but fortunately no one found anyone. In order to clarify the air, the firefighters used high -pressure fans and as a precaution, the residents of the adjacent apartments evacuated outdoors.
