Fire in Arbesbach: Confessing chair, fire brigade in continuous use!

In the parish church of Arbesbach in the Zwettl district, a Fire went out on Sunday morning, which quickly called on the scene. At 7:00 a.m., parishioners reported smoke inside the church. The alarmed fire brigade arrived with four extinguishing groups and around 50 members to fight the fire. When the team arrived, the interior was already heavily smoky, but no more open fire was visible. A technical defect of a heat radiator was identified as the cause of the fire, according to the police in the reporting of Oe24.at .

It turned out that a ceramic plug of a heat radiator had melted by overheating and the fire was triggered. The fire brigade was able to quickly deglaze embers and remove the smoke from the building. However, the confession of the church was significantly damaged in the incident, whereby the fire brigade speaks of considerable damage to property. Fortunately, there were no injured people. According to the police spokeswoman Manuela Weinkirn, it is a “probability that is certainly bordering on certainty”. More information on this incident can also be found on noe.orf.at
