Fire drama in Pottendorf: Garage burns, residents in safety!

Pottendorf, Österreich - On May 30, 2025, Pottendorf, Lower Austria, came to a violent garage fire that alerted the volunteer fire brigades Landegg and Pottendorf. Residents had noticed an ascending cloud of smoke and immediately chosen the emergency call 122. When the fire brigade arrived, the right part of the garage, in which three cars were parked, was already in full fire. The fire threatened to attack the apartment and the roof above, but the residents were able to save themselves in time.

In order to prevent the flames from spreading, the Landegg fire brigade immediately started the fire fighting from outside. She received support from recurring forces that built up several extinguishing pipes. The garage doors were opened with a rescue chain saw to create access to the garage. A breathing air container from the Ebreichsdorf fire brigade was also alerted because the fire fighting inside the garage was extremely difficult due to the lack of space.

A total of 24 volunteer fire brigade from three volunteers - FF Landegg, FF Pottendorf and FF Ebreichsdorf - were deployed. Particular attention was paid to preventing the flames from spreading. The fire brigade decided to recover the three cars outdoors because it was not possible to fight the inner fire. The garage doors had to be removed to save the vehicles that were finally extinguished. All three vehicles suffered a total loss.

The reversal work in the garage was carried out thoroughly. In addition, the apartment above was checked and ventilated, while the roof was checked for possible embers with a thermal imaging camera.
