Vehicle fire in Mannheim: Small van goes up in flames!

Quadrat O7, 68161 Mannheim, Deutschland - Mannheim. Alarm level red in the city center! On Thursday morning, around 9:30 a.m., a devastating vehicle fire broke out in the square O7, directly opposite the iconic water tower. A small van that was on the way to the main train station was suddenly covered by a thick, black cloud of smoke. The driver, who was just holding a bus stop, could only watch helplessly how flames beat out of the engine compartment!

In a desperate attempt to fight the fire with a fire extinguisher, it was already too late. The van was on fire and the fire brigade had to intervene quickly. The Mannheim professional fire brigade was on site in no time and was able to extinguish the inferno, but the damage was already done: the van was completely burned out!

The devastating flames not only left the van in rubble and ash. Several trees, the road and the sidewalk were badly damaged by the heat. A specialist company was called to clean the road from the leaked operating materials. The sewage operations are also in use to prevent dangerous substances from getting into the sewage system.

The exact amount of property damage is still unclear, but the effects are clearly noticeable. The right and left lanes towards the main train station remained closed until around 11.40 a.m. A dramatic incident that kept the city in suspense!
