Departure marathon: fire brigade Schwechat fights against fire and accidents!

A dramatic command marathon occurred on Monday evening, December 16, 2024, when the Schwechat volunteer fire brigade (Bruck district) mastered several missions on the A4 Ostutobahn. The first alarm went shortly before 6.30 p.m. with the message about a human rescue and four trapped people. The Schwechat fire brigade and the fire brigade Schwechat-Mannswörth hurried to the scene of the accident, but luckily it quickly became clear that no people were injured or trapped. Nevertheless, the emergency services experienced a serious accident on the opposite lane, which they had to see, as [meinzirk.at] reported.

Three vehicles were involved in this further incident, with four people being seriously injured. A passenger had to be freed from the wreck with a hydraulic rescue device. The rescue workers, supported by a randomly passing first aider of the Vienna professional rescue, provided the injured and a rescue helicopter was requested. Due to the accident recording, there were considerable traffic jams in both directions due to the accident, especially towards Hungary. The emergency alleys were hardly filtered here, which led to delays in the subsequent emergency services. Alexander Paulus, press team of the Schwechat volunteer fire brigade, appealed to all drivers to "immediately form a emergency lane" to ensure quick help.
