Dramatic accident in Styria: young drivers saved with huge happiness!

A serious accident in Styria caused dramatic scenes on Friday evening. An 83-year-old driver from the Leibnitz district overlooked an oncoming vehicle on the L262 and collided head-on while he wanted to turn on the L630. During the collision, he, his 73-year-old wife and the 38-year-old driver of the other car were injured and had to be brought to LKH South Styria in Wagna. The police blocked the affected section during the rescue work and set up a diversion, as Orf Steiermark reported.

Another disturbing incident occurred at the same time in Pirching on the Traubenberg. Here a driver crashed into a tree and the vehicle was soon on fire. Two brave men, including Herbert T., became witnesses to the accident and acted immediately. They pulled the 25-year-old driver, who was seriously injured, but accessible, from the wreck, just before the car burned completely. "It was really a rescue at the last second," said Herbert T., who thought back to his fire brigade training 30 years ago, which was helpful to him at this critical moment. The extinguishing work was extremely challenging for the fire brigade because the car was fully fueled and the gasoline expired. It took almost two hours to extinguish the flames, although this should normally be done faster, as Krone reported.

important rescue operation

The two missions show urgently how quickly life can change and the quick reaction of passers -by and emergency services can decide on life and death. Herbert T. knows the crashed driver and hopes for a soon reunion in the local regular restaurant, just a kilometer from the scene of the accident. In view of the dramatic circumstances, each of these rescue actions is an impressive example of humanity and courage in the middle of danger.
