Drama at the house: Fire brings neighbors in mortal danger!

In a dramatic rescue operation, firefighters had to intervene in Burgenland in the early morning when a residential building was on fire. The alarm came at 5.41 a.m., and when the Andau fire brigade arrived, the roof structure of the empty building was already burning. Thanks to the rapid commitment of the five active fire departments, no residents could be injured, but four neighbors suffered from flue gas poisoning and had to be treated with a doctor, as the district fire brigade command Neusiedl am See announced and Wiener.at reported. The cause of the fire is currently still unclear, but the emergency services were able to return to their guards at around 8:00 a.m. after extinguishing the flames after a fire guard had been set up.

In a separate incident in North Rhine-Westphalia, 31 people, including two toddlers, suffered severe flue gas poisoning during arson. A child was still in critical condition on Monday, as WDR reported. Especially in fires, toxic flue gases such as carbon monoxide and cyanide are the main danger that can lead to serious injuries. Experts warn that these gases that arise during the combustion of organic materials can bind to the red blood cells in the blood and block the oxygen supply in the body. Particular caution is required, especially in children, since they are quickly endangered to suffer serious health damage.

Who is affected and treated in time has good chances of recovery. In the case of flue gas poisoning, medical care with highly concentrated oxygen is carried out to push the harmful gases out of the body. In severe cases, special pressure chambers are necessary to ensure faster recovery. The rapid help on site can decide on life and death, emphasize the health experts. Therefore, every intervention of the rescue workers is of great importance when it comes to protecting the population.
