At the Nordic World Cup in Trondheim there was a bitter disappointment for the Austrian cross -country skier Benjamin Moser. Moser fell in a tension-charged quarter-finals of the skating sprint when Norwegian competitor Matz William Jenssen stepped on his ski. Moser was promising in second position and had the chance to move into the next round, but the mishap happened at the apex of a curve.
Jenssen, who criticized the situation, blamed Moser for the collision: "He takes a long step and I get on his ski," said Jenssen in an ORF interview. Moser, on the other hand, countered that he was clearly at the top when Jenssen hit him. "I was clearly ahead and he got up," said Moser, who broke off a comment so as not to overreact on TV. The early end in the competition was extremely bitter for the Tyrolean Moser, since the final was his big goal, as he admitted.
