In a sensational advance to end the war in Ukraine, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have had a telephone conversation in which they agreed to get immediate negotiations on an armistice. Trump said that a first meeting could take place in Saudi Arabia in the near future. He emphasized that the Ukraine and its needs must be included in the conversations and spoke of a "productive" exchange with Putin, as vienna.at reported.
On the other hand,Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj made it clear that no bilateral agreements about Ukraine are accepted without their participation. He called for a strong involvement in Europe in negotiations because a "dirty deal" would not solve anything. EU politician Kaja Kallas, who pointed out that the security of Europe is a common responsibility, also said the concern that European interests could be declined, while NATO membership of Ukraine remains a controversial topic, such as FOCUS.de reported.
