New regulation on basic care: Ukrainian in Vienna in front of new hurdles!
In the course of the continuing crisis in Ukraine, Austria plans a sharper regulation for the basic supply of displaced persons. From January, Ukrainians could be forced to use their cars in order to continue to receive support. This applies in particular to people who are considered in need of help. This stipulates that owners of expensive vehicles can hardly make any claims to basic care, while less prestigious cars do not automatically lead to exclusion. These measures are apparently an answer to the increasing number of needs providers that have increased since the beginning of Russian attack on Ukraine, such as Kleine Zeitung reported.
Currently, according to the coordination council of the federal and state governments, around 70,400 people are in basic care in Austria, with 53 percent of which are Ukrainians. An individual case inspection in Vienna remains, which means that the city goes its own way, while in other federal states a stricter approach is pursued. Critics argue that everyone who is able to afford fuel and insurance for their car should not be regarded as needy in need, and could result in a kind of injustice. In this context, the exact design and implementation of these new regulations will continue to discuss in order to address increasing pressure on basic care in Austria, as also reported by orf
