Selenskyj on peace mission: Meeting in Saudi Arabia!

Dschidda, Saudi-Arabien - Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj will shortly travel to Saudi Arabia to discuss possible peace negotiations in the Ukraine conflict. He announced this confirmation on Sunday evening during his daily video address after the first exploratory talks with American supporters had already taken place. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will also take part in the negotiations that are to begin in Dschidda on Tuesday. According to Krone he will talk to the Ukrainian delegation under the direction of Selenskyj's consultant Andrij Jermak about possible compromises that are necessary for peace.

In the current negotiations, it will be crucial to clarify which concessions Kiev is ready. A high-ranking US official said: "You can't say: 'I want peace' and at the same time: 'I refuse to compromise'." The events are not only important for Ukraine, because also a possible restoration of military support and intelligence information by the United States is in the room, such as TAG24 reported. These could be of central importance for Ukraine during their defense war against Russia.

Peace talks and soil treasures

Selenskyj, who is accompanied in the conversations of rank -high representatives of his cabinet, has clear hopes of progress: "We hope for results, both with regard to peace and further support." An additional topic at the meetings could be an agreement on mineral resources between Ukraine and the USA, which, according to US President Donald Trump, could be signed this week. In a recent statement, Trump said that Ukraine demands security guarantees as part of this agreement, while he expressed hope that the talks will lead to a peaceful solution to the conflict. In view of the increasing number of victims of war in Ukraine, he demanded: "We have to end it."
