ORF general director Roland Weißmann emphasized that these guidelines aim to ensure transparent and responsible use of AI technologies in the company. With the self-developed "Aiditor" software, the ORF has already won the European technology and innovation award and thus confirmed its pioneering role in the area of innovation in Europe. This is done by using the human-in-the-loop principle, which ensures that people continue to have control over all AI-based applications, such as orf.at

responsible use in public administration

At the same time, the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport presented guidelines for the use of AI in the public service. These guidelines are intended to ensure that administrative staff: use the opportunities of digital transformation inside without exceeding ethical and legal limits. The principles include the responsible handling of personal data, transparency when using AI and the need for technical expertise when using such technologies. In order to ensure this compliance, the employees must be trained regularly and always critically question decisions based on AI-based information. These recommendations also include urgently needed tools such as checklists and risk trees in order to prepare employees for their tasks as best as possible, while at the same time keeping responsibility for their decisions, as on oeffenterdienst.gv.at is made clear.

Overall, both initiatives illustrate the trend of increased integration of AI in various areas and the efforts for the highest ethical standards and transparency in order to secure the trust of the public into these technologies.
