EU officials collect fat salary increase despite austerity!

The basic salary of an official will increase at the lower end of 3361 euros to 3603 euros - 242 euros more per month. For the top earners among them, it goes from 23,959 euros to 25,685 euros, an increase of 1726 euros! Ursula von der Leyen himself will experience an increase from 32,101 euros to 34,412 euros, while EU commissioners are allowed to calculate with a salary increase of 1884 euros.

But that's not all: tax-free foreign allowances and- depending on the marital status- household and children's allowances are also approaching the officials. The imposing threshold of 40,000 euros per month exceed the overall covers. The additional salary costs amount to 16.6 million euros for active civil servants and 3.8 million euros for the pensioners, financed by savings in the EU household.
