Security risks: TUI cancels cruises in the Red Sea for 2025!
The safety of cruise passengers is currently the focus as TUI Cruises has had to cancel several trips for 2025. The trigger is safety concerns in the Red Sea, which are forcing the tour operator to adjust the routes of its ships. The affected cruises are Mein Schiff 4, Mein Schiff 5 and Mein Schiff 6, whose planned trips cannot take place as announced. This was done by, among others Mercury reports, which describes the situation in detail.
The Mein Schiff 4 will not sail through the Suez Canal as expected and will instead take an alternative route to Africa, starting October 1, 2025. This decision followed discussions with security experts and partners to ensure the safety of travelers and crew. The ship will leave the Orient from February 25, 2025. The Mein Schiff 5 and Mein Schiff 6 are also affected, with several trips in the period from November to December 2025 not being carried out. Existing bookings will automatically be canceled free of charge, according to TUI Cruises.
Insights into 2024
Despite these setbacks, TUI is optimistic for the travel year 2024. TUI Cruises is planning a variety of themed and event trips that are intended to offer guests unique experiences. Reading trips to Great Britain and musical highlights such as the “Mein Schiff meets ELBJAZZ” trip are announced. These events will feature a large presence of authors and prominent musicians, including the well-known country rock band “The BossHoss”. The Full Metal Cruise XI also enjoyed great demand in September 2023 and confirms the interest in special cruise experiences, as reported by the TUI Group reported.
