Austria's JJ inspires Wasted Love in the ESC final 2025!

On May 15, 2025, the second semi -finals of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025 took place in the St. Jakobshalle in Basel. Austria's candidate JJ was able to convince with his emotional counter ballad "Wasted Love" and thus secured a ticket for the final next Saturday, May 17, 2025.

The semi-finals were eagerly awaited because there was both a public and a jury. In contrast to previous years, jury voting in the semi -finals in 2023 was abolished, which changed the dynamics of the vote. The Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which takes place in Switzerland from May 13th to 17th, is 69th of its kind and will be held in Switzerland for the third time. The organizers have invested a lot in preparation and the city of Basel is praised for its professional implementation.

Unlike in previous years, the Big Five countries and the host country are automatically qualified for the final. This means that Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom are represented in the final. This structure should also help increase interest in the semi -finals and at the same time maintain the tension for the final.
