Austria's ski juniors disappoint: only fourth place in the slalom!
Austria experienced a disappointing conclusion at the Junior Ski World Cup in Tarvisio, Italy. The 19-year-old Moritz Zudrell from Vorarlberg only made fourth place in slalom and, despite an increase in the second round, missed the coveted medal by six tenths seconds. Gold went to the Norwegian Theodor Braekken, while the silver medal to Gustav Wissing from Sweden and bronze to Luca Carrick Smith from Great Britain, which thus won the first medal for his country.
In the overall ranking of the medal mirror, Austria could not cut off as hoped. With a gold, two silver and four bronze medals, the country fell back to fifth place behind Sweden on the last day of the competition. France asserted itself with three gold and one bronze medal at the top, followed by Switzerland with two gold and five silver medals and Germany, which also won two gold medals. These Junior World Championships are an annual highlight in which young talents in disciplines such as slalom, giant slalom and departure compete against each other, and one of the most important events in alpine skiing, as was found on Wikipedia.
