ÖVP under fire: Kickl calls for immediate asylum reforms after a stop!
FPÖ federal party chairman Herbert Kickl has sharply criticized the statements by Interior Minister Gerhard Karner to combat Islamist threats. As part of a press conference, he described the statements as "completely unsuitable and past the problem". Kickl called for concrete measures, such as an immediate asylum stop for people from certain countries and a ban on political Islam. These measures are necessary to prevent similar attacks on Villach in the future. "As long as we import the current problems, nothing will change!" Said Kickl, who also warns that the mass surveillance planned by the ÖVP is not the solution and only burdened its own citizens, while the actual perpetrators remained undisturbed, like ots.at reported.
In another context, the freedom of EU MPs Petra Steger also warns that Austria must maintain its veto against the expansion of the Schengen area as long as the mass immigration is not effectively stopped. In an appeal to the government, she pointed out that neither Bulgaria nor Romania were able to secure the external borders of the EU sufficiently. Steger criticized the persistently high numbers of illegal entry to Austria and warned that an extension of Schengen would tighten the situation. In her opinion, this could make the two countries preferred destinations for migrants and tractors. These warnings are in direct connection with the demands of Kickl and underline the urgency of a fundamental change in migration policy, such as fpoe-parlamtsklub.at reported.
