Austria shows solidarity: Schallenberg visits Ukrainian school in Vienna

Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - On February 23, 2025, Federal Chancellor and Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg attended the Ukrainian Saturday school in Vienna, confirming Austria's support for Ukraine in the context of the brutal war of aggression, which was started by Russia almost three years ago. "For three years, the Ukrainians have not only defended their own future and sovereignty with extraordinary courage, but also our freedom and our values," said Schallenberg. He underlined that there could be no peace without the participation of Ukraine and its president, Wolodymyr Selenskyj. This is particularly important to achieve a fair and permanent peace based on international law, according to Schallenberg, such as reported.

In another context, Schallenberg recently took part in the 61st Munich security conference, in which the focus was on the Russian attack war against Ukraine. He emphasized the need for a common European approach to ensure stability and peace in the region. Schallenberg emphasized that "we Europeans have to export security" so as not to endanger their own security. This is also the core of his conversations with international external ministers, including the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. Austria's position is unequivocal: There should be no conversations about the security of Europe without the EU and the European countries, such as bundeskanzleramt highlighted.

Schallenberg also forced international cooperation as a key to comprehensive peace in Ukraine, and appealed to the global community to work for the support of Ukraine. Austria has provided considerable humanitarian aid in the amount of over 293 million euros since the beginning of the war and is one of the largest investors in Ukraine. The situation remains serious, since the war continues in both Ukraine and in the region and demands countless lives.
