New bus line connects Lörrach with EuroAirport: a lived Europe!
Lörrach, Deutschland - From now on there is a direct bus connection between Lörrach and the EuroAirport Basel-Mülhausen. The new bus line 220 with the name "Freund" was inaugurated last Saturday and for the first time connects Germany and France on the southern Oberrhein without detours. The bus runs every hour and even every 30 minutes during the rush hours. This realizes a travel time of 50 minutes for the eight stations, including Haltingen in Germany and Saint-Louis in France. The opening of the line is an important step to facilitate cross-border traffic, such as nau.ch .
Financing initially runs as a pilot project over three years with annual costs of 1.8 million euros. Most of the funds come from the EU Interreg A program and the RegioBus funding program from Baden-Württemberg. Those responsible expect the new line not only to improve traffic between the countries, but also promote cultural exchange and economic cooperation. With this connection, another step is taken in the direction of a united in Europe, according to the hope of the regional politicians.
