Kurdish areas in mortal danger: Türkiye attacks again!
In northeastern Syria, violence escalates massively, while the Syrian National Army (SNA) supported by Turkey increasingly attacks Kurdish areas. The spokeswoman for the Greens for European and Foreign Policy, Meri Disoski, commented on the impending offensive on the border town of Kobanê in Rojava. The EU asked the EU to proceed decisively against the attacks by Türkiye, which represent a clear break in international law, such as OTS reported. In view of the increasing number of civil sacrifices and the thousands of Kurds, it becomes increasingly urgent that the EU opposes this brutal approach with a clear attitude.
The situation has tightened after the fall of the Assad regime. While there is hope for peace in many parts of Syria, the Kurdish areas suffer from intensive fights and alarming escape movements. Over 80,000 Kurds have already fled to other regions due to the attacks, which dramatically exacerbates the humanitarian situation. However, the Syrian democratic forces (SDF), which are the allies of the United States in the fight against the "Islamic State" (IS), are increasingly under pressure. Political scientist Ismail Küpeli emphasized that external pressure on Turkey was necessary to stop the attacks, as "https://www.zdf.de/nachrichten/ausland/syrien-assad-kurden-uerkei-100.html"> ZDF
The Kurds had gained extensive autonomy under Assad, but now they are at risk of returning extremist forces. While Assad's fall is generally celebrated, the uncertainty of the future security of the Kurds remains. However, the Kurdish leader Mazlum Abdi speaks of a chance for a new, more fairer Syria that respects the rights of all citizens. However, the military attacks of Türkiye to the Kurdish military base YPG, which is part of the SDF, tighten the crisis situation and lead to massive humanitarian challenges in the region.
