War debate escalated: Kickl criticizes EU and demands neutrality back!
The EU and its leading politicians sharply criticizedFPÖ federal party chairman Herbert Kickl after he described the war travel from EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as “fire-threatening”. According to Kickl, the EU is calling for "upgrading Europe" while not trying peace in Ukraine. "While the US administration under President Trump is trying to bring both sides to the negotiating table, European politics relies on gun gear and threatening gestures," said Kickl. He accused the EU and the Austrian government to endanger the security of the population and to risk national neutrality. This is happening while more and more funds flow into armaments projects.
On the anniversary of the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, Kickl emphasized that the top goal must be a quick end to the war. He criticized the EU for its ineffective sanctions and arms deliveries, which in his opinion only cause further suffering and affect their own population. Kickl sees the continued support of the Ukraine course and the unmistakable disassembly of neutrality as part of an "anti-Austria program". His appeal was particularly directed against the "unit parties" in Austria, which through their participation in EU policy and sanctions against Russia harmful damage.
escalation potential of the conflicts
Kickl also warned of the "great escalation potential" of the war, which continues to threaten people. He emphasized that the EU not only endangers peace, but also fell into a profound wealth crisis. In his view, Austria's interests should come back first in order to act as a neutral agent in conflict. However, the return to neutrality required by Kickl could be undermined internationally by the current armaments rhetoric and the continuous interference into the conflicts, as was also taken up by the "heute.at".
