Peasant death in Lower Austria: Agricultural expert warns of dramatic consequences!

In an alarming appeal, the freedom farmers have denounced the dramatic decline in domestic agriculture in Austria. The international agricultural expert and chairman of the freedom farmers Upper Austria, DI Dr. Arthur Kroismayr, said during a press conference in St. Pölten the dangers that result from the previous EU agricultural policy. Since Austria's joining the EU in 1995, numerous farms have had to close their gates. Kroismayr demands rapid action, otherwise a complete disappearance of domestic agriculture. It is obvious to him that politics often ignores the needs of farmers. He criticized the ÖVP for the plans to continue a policy that harms agriculture. "The sugar government sacrifices our farmers in the name of an exaggerated climate protection," says Kroismayr. The top candidate NABG also concluded these words. Peter Schmiedlechner, who sees the ÖVP's “buying power” and “bureaucracy -tasting” policy as the main cause of the pland.

Criticism also practices Schmiedlechner on the upcoming elections to the Chamber of Agriculture. As bauern.fpoe.at , the means of the chamber were often not used for the well-being of the farmers, but to serve in the parties. In addition, the choice of ÖVP page is "covered up" by asking the municipal representatives to retain information about the elections. "The ÖVP's understanding of democracy is at the low point," said Schmiedlechner and emphasized that the dependence of the farmers will continue to increase on political promises if the position of farmers is not improved.

A call to the turn in agricultural policy

The urgent appeal from Kroismayr and Schmiedlechner points out that responsibility for the survival of agriculture is not only among the companies. "Without a radical turn in agricultural policy, peasant death will continue inexorably," warn the two freedom farmers. The companies would have to leave their right -wing style in order to regain a voice in politics that they represent appropriately. "The freedom farmers need every single voice on March 9th. Agriculture only has a future with a free agricultural policy," concludes Schmiedlechner. These bundle statements underline the need that domestic agriculture finally receives the appreciation and support that it deserves - before it is too late.
