Left demands: Fanti electricity prices for e-car drivers in Hamburg!
In a current advance, the left in Hamburg calls for the capping of electricity prices for e-car drivers. The expansion of the charging infrastructure should be accelerated with the participation of private companies in order to promote the use of electric vehicles. At the same time, criticism of the lack of price upper limits in the contract between the Senate and private charging pillar operator becomes loud.
The planning includes an agreement with five private companies that are to build a total of 2500 charging points by mid -2027. The left emphasizes that the high electricity prices and vehicle costs deter potential electric car buyers. In addition, the party demands that the urban operator Henw offer mobile charging prices. The goal is to increase the number of loading points in Hamburg to 7000 by mid -2027. At the end of 2022 there were around 1,700 charging points in public space operated by Henw.
expanded charging infrastructure
At least 1200 charging points are to be built by Henw Mobil, while private operators take over the rest. The contracts with the concessionaires set a clear schedule and the urban areas for the expansion. The five private companies each have to build 500 charging stations in 50 expansion areas, which corresponds to one rate of 100 per half of the year. In the event of delays, contractual penalties are provided. At the end of 2023 there were 772 charging stations that were operated by Stromnetz Hamburg, which means that a total of 1544 charging points were available. In 2022, the expansion with fewer than 200 new charging points was comparatively low.
For the desired expansion, Henw Mobil would have to build 480 charging points per year in order to achieve the goal. A total of 3236 publicly accessible charging points were registered in Hamburg at the end of 2022, which corresponds to an increase of 20% compared to the previous year. However, the expansion pace must be increased in order to achieve the desired number of 7000 charging points by mid -2027.
As part of the development of the charging infrastructure in Hamburg, a usage price for public charging infrastructure was first introduced on January 1, 2022. On regular charging stations (AC, 11 kW/22 kW), the price is 12 cents per kilowatt hour, while fast charging stations (DC, 50 kW) cost 20 cents per kilowatt hour. Before the introduction of these prices, the use of public charging points was free of charge, as part of the so -called "Hamburg model", which was passed in 2014. This model should create incentives to use electric vehicles by providing a comprehensive charging infrastructure.
The model is financed by funding and public funds. All loading processes on public columns in Hamburg use 100% green electricity, whereby the company in Hamburg is responsible for building these points. Hamburg Energie ensures the sustainable green electricity supply of the charging stations. The new usage price was introduced to finance the ongoing operating costs and the further expansion of the charging infrastructure. Due to the cost requirements, many nationwide charging electricity providers have already integrated fees into their tariffs in the past.
Hamburg is now considered one of the leading cities in Germany with regard to the charging infrastructure, with over 1000 public charging points and additional 400 charging points in the partial space, as on Hamburg energy works reported.
For the promotion of electrical driving and the support of e-car drivers, it becomes increasingly important that the expansion of the charging infrastructure is progressing quickly and that the electricity prices for users remain affordable, as well as from the mopo
