Grohnde nuclear power plant: dismantling runs, re -commissioning unrealistic!

The Grohnde nuclear power plant, which has been switched off since the end of 2021, is the focus of current discussions about possible recovery. An analysis of the Radiant Energy Group, which was spread by the Nuclearia initiative, emphasizes that the return to nuclear energy is not excluded and could be economically sensible. According to the study, Grohnde, together with other reactors, could be brought back on the net by the end of 2028, on the condition that the dismantling will be stopped immediately. "The crucial hurdle is the political will, not technology," explains Rainer Klute, the chairman of Nuclearia, and calls for an immediate moratorium to dismantle the disused systems, such as niedersachsen.de

The difference between the demands for restarting and the tangible steps of the dismantling shows the split location. Preussen Elektra remains that a future for nuclear energy in Germany does not exist and that the work is systematically dismantled. Even if some political forces are calling for a return to nuclear power, the Ministry of the Environment sees a return as irresponsible and indicates the insufficient clarification of the nuclear waste.
