Kelag lowers feed-in tariffs: This is how PV customers react now!
Österreich - The Kelag has announced a drastic turn in the feed-in tariffs for photovoltaic systems (PV systems). For the first time since the introduction of stable prices that were promised, the company is forced to switch the feed -in tariff to market prices. This happened due to the explosive growth of the PV systems and the resulting market changes, such as Alexander Jordan, sales manager at Kelag. "We see a drop in prices when too many facilities in certain times, as in the summer months, feed excess energy into the network," said Jordan. The new tariffs are based on the current prices on the electricity exchange and can vary except for a few cents. According to Kelag, the operators now have to observe the market.
new tariff models for power customers
In addition to the new price structures, Kelag offers the "Kelag Sonnenwert" feed-in tariff, which was specially designed for power customers with a maximum PV system size of 50 kWP. The feed-in tariff depends on the so-called solar value zones, which are divided into different remuneration levels, depending on the monthly pollution. These can be up to 30 % above the reference market value. Customers who have an active energy delivery contract with Kelag can apply for this tariff via the customer portal. In addition, this tariff is attractive without a minimum contract term and combinability with other Kelag power tariffs. The new regulations are particularly advantageous for owners of electric cars and heat pumps, since the profitability of the systems can increase the profitability of the systems. While 25 percent of the feeders have already made a tariff choice, the rest of the customers have had time to make a decision by the end of May. The company advises to check its own system dimensions in order to avoid overloading of the power grid, which often occur through the PV boom. If you don't want to take advantage of any of the new options, you have the option of looking for alternative customers or setting up the handling point for green electricity (OEMAG), as has already been recorded in the information from Kelag.
