Chocolate 2025: vegan, sustainable and full of pleasure!

Waldenbuch, Deutschland - The year 2025 becomes a milestone for the chocolate industry, especially for the traditional brand

responsible chocolate production

The sustainability strategy of Ritter Sport comprises four central areas: cocoa, palm oil, hazelnuts and packaging materials. The company pursues direct partnerships with cocoa farmers in Ghana, Peru and Nicaragua to ensure sustainable cultivation methods. To this end, Ritter Sport works with the consulting company San, which checks compliance with the standards on site. Also a sustainable cocoa farm in Nicaragua ensures that 60 percent of the cocoa come from direct production. This transparency in production takes off Ritter Sport from many competitors, as well as the Klimacheck from Basic Thinking emphasized.

The focus is also on the development of environmentally friendly packaging. Instead of propylting films, Ritter tests Sports paper packaging, which have proven to be very positive among consumers: inside. The production methods also represent an essential aspect, since the company relies on electromobility and continuously improves its e-mobility strategies. The goal is to make the entire cocoa production climate -neutral by 2025, which is a significant step towards a more environmentally friendly chocolate production. It remains to be seen how the industry will adapt to these dynamics, while at the same time the enjoyment of chocolate is experienced in a new dimension.
