Eberspächer in Herxheim: production stop and 200 jobs on the brink!
Esslingen am Neckar, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland - The car supplier Eberspächer from Esslingen am Neckar has spread alarming news. Due to dramatically sunken demand in the area of electromobility, the company plans to hire production at a German location in terms of around 200 employees. This decision is already followed by a job cut at two locations in Rhineland-Palatinate, which has further exacerbated the situation for the employees, such as merkur.de reported.
IG Metall has underlined and announced the concerned situation of deciding against the production closure and the associated job cuts. At the affected location in Herxheim, where special high-voltage heater are manufactured for electric vehicles, one suffers in particular from the very declining customer demand. While the factory in Bulgaria was recently sold to restructure, the Herxheim location remains as a hub for global product development and sales, whereby only around 120 employees will remain there in the future. This is considered a further blow for the South Palatinate region, since in the past other manufacturers such as Ronal have made comparable decisions, such as op-online.de reported.
With the desired production setting, Eberspächer could serve serious consequences for the employees and their livelihood. IG Metall emphasizes that she will not give up without a fight. The union plans to use all available funds to defend the jobs in the company. The year 2025 is a fight year for the union, such as Marc Tinger, the representative of IG Metall Landau. The employees are in a tense situation and look into the future with concern.
