Karlsruher successfully runs the renovation of the Riedbahn!
In the Baden-Württemberg city of Karlsruhe, work is high pressure on the first general renovation of a section of the Riedbahn. Project manager Angela Allgeier-Bauer from DB Infrago's construction management ensures that the work will be completed on time on December 15th. According to bnn.de she is currently testing the correct function of the access to the stop in Mannheim-Luzenberg, which is a decisive step in the modernization of the rail network. This renovation will not only improve passenger information, but also increase general user -friendliness in public transport.
historical gasometer as an example of conversion
Another remarkable example of the revitalization of industrial buildings can be found in Vienna: The Gasometers. These former gas capacities, built in 1896, were redesigned after their decommissioning in 1984. As Twistedsifter.com , they were converted into a popular living, working and shopping center. The magnificent Red Brick facade of the gasometer is preserved, while they were modernized and divided into multifunctional rooms that offer gastronomy, retail and living space. In addition to over 70 shops and Restaurants, the gasometers also house a multiplex cinema and event rooms for up to 4,200 people.
These two projects show how the potential of existing infrastructure is optimally used in both Karlsruhe and Vienna. In Karlsruhe, the traffic connections are significantly improved by the renovation measures of the Riedbahn, while the Gasometers in Vienna are a shining example of the successful conversion of industrial mates into modern habitats.
