Entrepreneurs on the uprising: ORF fee threatens companies with 18,000 euros!
Entrepreneurs in Austria raise the alarm: The controversial ORF fee now also increasingly attacks the economy and creates sums of up to 18,000 euros. According to the lawyer Gerold Beneder, small and medium-sized companies in particular feel abandoned by the government. Beneder reports that more and more entrepreneurs are confronted with considerable claims from the ORF contribution service, since companies are asked to pay for at least one employee according to the provisions of the ORF law. If an entrepreneur who refuses to pay himself actually has to pay, he even threatens to close his company.
As Beneder emphasizes, this is not an isolated case. The besieged entrepreneurs are massively stressed by these high costs and are calling for a fundamental reform of ORF financing. In an interview with Exxpress, he demands a rethink: "OBS first has targeted consumers and is now also targeting the companies." For many small business owners, the question of financial burden and the legal framework is of great importance, especially in the context of the Small business regulation enables to benefit from certain tax relief.
The pressure on small businesses is growing
The small business regulation in particular offers freshly founded companies the opportunity to operate without sales tax payments as long as sales remain under certain limits. With a new regulation of 22,000 euros annual sales, new companies can establish themselves more easily on the market. However, the ORF fee brings additional pressure on these already contaminated companies because they fear not to be able to raise the financial resources. Beneder warned that many entrepreneurs should resist in order to change the existing regulations.
