Christmas chaos in the Günzburg district: Swating cases and burglaries!
On December 26, 2024, the police in the Günzburg district reported increased use during Christmas, in which several incidents, including a "Swating" case, were registered. On December 23, there was a fake emergency by ordering from a fast food restaurant in Ulm, which referred to domestic violence. The 40-year-old online streamer, who was considered an alleged perpetrator, was in his apartment alone at the time of the crime. As a result, investigations were taken up for the pretense of a criminal offense.
In addition, the police registered a traffic accident in Kötz on December 23, in which a 19-year-old collided with a 27-year-old when turning. Both involved were minor injuries, and the property damage was estimated at around 6,500 euros. In Krumbach, an escape escape also occurred on the same day, in which the cause could be determined. Even during the Christmas holidays, further traffic accidents in the southern district practiced: On December 24th, two vehicles collided in Thannhausen while parking, while in Krumbach a woman was released when a intersection was free.

In terms of the "Swatting" case in the district of Günzburg, it is pointed out that 68 crimes against streamers have already been registered this year, such as the Deutschlandfunk reported. However, the number of unreported cases of these acts remains unknown. Experts warn that the abuse of emergency calls is associated with considerable costs of at least 1.5 million euros for the missions and that many affected people need psychotherapeutic help after such incidents. The term "swatting" comes from the USA and refers to the use of heavily armed special units (SWAT teams) to prevent supposed serious crimes. In some cases, armed emergency services stormed apartments due to these false reports.
