Österreich - In Austria, the figures of E-Scooter accidents shoot up suddenly. According to current reports from the Board of Trustees (KFV), 7,500 people injured themselves in accidents with e-scooters in 2024-an alarming increase of 25 percent in comparison to the previous year with 6,000 injured. This increasing accident rate is also reflected in the statistics that have shown a dramatic increase since 2019 when only 1,200 injuries were counted. The dangers from the e-scooter boom are also increased by the influence of alcohol and drugs. In 2023, 13 percent of the drivers who had crashed were alcoholic, with this proportion increasing to 16 percent by September 2024. It is also alarming that 19 percent of those surveyed admit to having driven e-scooter under the influence of drugs, as a KFV study shows.
