E-scooter in Vienna: City fights against Rüpel and frenzied suppliers!

In Vienna, the authorities put the reins in the fight against Rüpel on e-scooters and fast delivery vehicles. Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) announced that the controls in the city, which have been carried out since May 2023, will be continued and even intensified. The aim of these measures is to ensure compliance with the speed regulations after an e-scooter with a fabulous 46 km/h has been stopped during a check in Meidlinger Hauptstraße-the permissible top speed is only 25 km/h. According to the head of the immediate measures, Walter Hillerer, every e-scooter driver is checked, and the focus is also on food suppliers on electric mopeds. Many violations and even 106 organ mandates have already been found in the previous controls, as the Krone reported.

In Frankfurt, too fast e-scooters and cyclists are increasingly making headlines. In the popular pedestrian zone Freßgass', the symptoms about frenzied couriers are piling up, which do not adhere to the permitted walking pace. Security department Annette Rinn (FDP) confirmed that cyclists and especially delivery drivers are repeatedly caught in the act. Despite these incidents, the police have so far not been a reason for serious measures, since the Freßgass' is not a "accident scope". However, the city plans measures to increase security on the particularly heavily frequented roads, as reported by the Frankfurter Rundschau . The first steps to raise awareness of the residents and the couriers are already being planned to curb the rapid journeys.
