Future for Halle: City is planning new residential and commercial space!
The eastern city center of Halle (Saale) is facing exciting change! On Monday, the city administration invited to the "plan workshop" to discuss the future of these promising space. Whether houses or commercial properties - the possibilities are almost endless! Riebeckplatz, Thuringian train station and the RAW site are just a few of the hotspots that are on the table. Not only ideas are outlined here, but also presented concrete plans that could revolutionize the cityscape.
“We want the plans not to appear like UFOS, but interact with each other," said Leventry Department René Rebenstorf. With impressive 165 hectares of potential areas, this is not a small undertaking! Architect Georg Schönborn emphasized that it is currently the idea phase that is to be developed over decades. The vision not only includes high points for better orientation, but also the creation of green areas and improved networking of public spaces. Christoph Därr, his colleague, brought innovative suggestions, such as a roof area cadastre for rainwater use and the integration of cascades in green areas.
Citizen participation and wishes
The citizens of Halle actively contributed and expressed numerous ideas. Questions about the need for further development were sounded, and the desire for a water playground or fruit trees was expressed. The upgrading of the green areas around the Thuringian train station was recorded particularly positively. The citizens also demanded that the city should not lose sight of social infrastructure, such as daycare centers and schools, in new construction projects. Another wish was a bridge from the future center to Freimfelde.
A hotly debated topic was the former Maritim Hotel. Why should this be demolished? Rebenstorf defended the decision and explained that the demolition would also result in a land -up regulations. The property boundaries are currently chaotic over the area, which urgently needs a solution. "You can represent it here," said Rebenstorf about the demolition, although he is not a fan of large -scale destruction of post -war architecture.
