Wolfenbüttel: Electricity prices rise, but also savings possible!

Wolfenbüttel. The Stadtwerke Wolfenbüttel are facing a major upheaval: from 2025, electricity customers have to expect new prices! In a current letter, the municipal provider provides information about the upcoming changes. "We can reduce the working price due to our careful procurement strategy. Nevertheless, an increase in the basic price is necessary to meet the future challenges of the energy transition with stable networks," explains Vera Steiner, the commercial manager of the municipal utility.

What does that mean specifically for households? An average 3-person household that consumes 3500 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year will benefit from the "WF-Eco" tariff from the reduction of the labor price. This drops by 2.94 cents/kWh to 32.27 cents/kWh gross. But be careful: the basic price will increase by around 70 euros per year! This differentiated price adjustment should enable the municipal utilities to pass on cheap purchase prices and at the same time to finance the necessary infrastructure for a secure power supply.

The costs of the energy transition

"The energy supply in Germany is converted so that it is future -proof, climate -friendly and still safe - that costs," emphasizes Matthias Tramp, the technical managing director. Stadtwerke Wolfenbüttel have no influence on the increasing components of the electricity price, which are caused by state taxes, levies and taxes and make up about 25 percent of the total price. These costs will also increase at the turn of the year.

Not only the focus is on electricity prices! Gas prices also remain stable, while the municipal utilities are closely observing the market development. A final forecast for gas prices in 2025 is not yet possible. Compared to other providers in the region, however, the tariffs of Stadtwerke Wolfenbüttel are still located in the lower price range. The coming months promise exciting developments for consumers!
