Heidenheim, Deutschland - Mike Nahar and his family have been enjoying an exciting adventure in Suriname for four months, where they took a break from the usual life in Heidenheim. The former basketball coach and sports manager who spent a large part of his career in international basketball reports enthusiastically about the new life in Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname. "We are thrilled like on the first day," says Nahar, while praising the beauty of the tropical country, which not only offers fascinating nature, but also represents a return to the roots of his family. His parents have their story there, and now Mike is discovering this new phase of life with his wife Silke and the children Leon and Maya.

This year the Nahars celebrate a completely different Christmas party than usual. "We don't need winter jackets, but only shorts," says Mike Nahar with anticipation while preparing for the upcoming holidays. While the daughter Maya is coming to a visit to Suriname, the family goes to the island of Knini Paati from December 25th to 27th. 200 kilometers from the capital, the way there is a small adventure: "We drive the car to the last street and then an hour and a half by boat," explains Nahar. Despite the tropical heat and unusuality, such as Christmas in swimming trunks, the Nahars shine with anticipation of their culinary experiences in the jungle, where they want to experience Christmas season differently than usual.

Silke Nahar, who is active himself and helped with the catering of a football game, is also committed to Suriname. The decision to live in this small, tropical country for a year is an opportunity for the family to recharge your batteries and at the same time explore the family and cultural roots, explains Mike.
