Changing awake at Tirolobst: New impulses for sustainable cultivation!

Mils bei Hall, Österreich - The Federal Obstbau Day took place in Mils near Hall, which gathered around 190 fruit farmers, fruit growers from Austria, South Tyrol and Germany. The participants discussed urgently needed solutions with regard to food supply, crop protection, production security and the existing market conditions. The 60th anniversary of the Federal Association of Fruit Peasants and the 15th anniversary of Tirolobst was celebrated. This is particularly important, since self -supply in the home of fruit growing is increasingly at risk of what Federal Chairman Manfred Kohlfürst emphasized in his speech when he warned: "Full care is no longer available in fruit growing in many products" and explained the feared tightening of the conditions.

Another central point of the event was the new election of the board of Tirolobst. After 15 years on the board and eight years as chairwoman, Regina Norz handed over the lead to the East Tyrolean fruit farmers Johannes Kuenz. In his first speech as a chairman, he set out clear goals: "We have to fight the ideological -led pesticide policy and bureaucracy". These challenges were also addressed by Kurt Weinberger, the CEO of the Austrian hail insurance, who pointed out the loss of agricultural areas through sealing and climate change.

honors of deserved members

The ceremonial end of the day was numerous honors of well -known board members. Among the excellent was Hermann Kuenz, who founded the Kuenz Natural distillery in 1995. His commitment was recognized with the honorary membership of Tirolobst. Another highlight was the recognition of the committed commitment of former board members, which underlines the strong tradition and collaboration in fruit growing at home. These events reflect the challenges and changes that shape the industry while at the same time focusing on the need for sustainable and healthy food production, as was reported to Meinzärb.
