Vorarlberg state administration plans drastic job cuts until 2035!
As part of comprehensive savings plans in the Vorarlberg state administration, Governor Markus Wallner (ÖVP) has announced that a total of 250 jobs could be lost by 2035. By 2029, around 100 positions are to be saved by non-sacrifications in retirement, such as Vol.at
Aktuells around 2,300 people in 500 different professions for the country. In the next three to five years, 194 employees will retire alone. In total, there are over 500 retirement up to 2035. The aim of the state government is to regain the staff of 2022 by the end of 2029.
criticism of the austerity measures
The savings plans encounter violent criticism. NEOS club chairwoman Claudia Gamon described the administrative costs as inflated and pointed out that the staff from 2020 to 2025 rose by about 11%. SPÖ club chairman Mario Leiter called for a transparent plan for the cuts in the staff. Wallner himself described the project as "ambitious" and emphasized that an honest task criticism is necessary.
The staff representative has already been informed about the plans. Wallner announced that only the sovereign administration was affected by the cuts and that only the natural fluctuation is taken into account. One example is the dissolution of the "Office for Voluntary Engagement and Participation", whose employees are accommodated in other departments, which leads to saving two to three full -time equivalents.
Reforms in the public service in context
Extensive reforms in the public service have also been carried out in Germany since the 1990s. These led to large -scale privatizations and extensive staff reduction. It turned out that vacancies were increasingly occupied part -time or for a limited period. These developments and their different effects on civil servants and workers were examined in an analysis that also dealt with gender in the public service, such as wsi.de Show.
The reforms are an indication of the challenges that the Vorarlberg state government is also confronted with with its savings plans. The citizens and the country's employees observe the developments with interest and skepticism.
