Full closure at the German corner: Travel for Munich travelers!

The train sounds the alarm: From October 25th at 11 p.m. to November 4th at 4 a.m., the most important train connection between Munich and Salzburg is completely closed! The reason is massive construction work of the Deutsche Bahn on the German Eck, which require travelers massive rescheduling.

All trains from Munich that usually drive to Salzburg must be diverted, which leads to an additional travel time of terrifying 30 minutes. Vacation friends from Vienna to Munich have to be careful: the stop in Salzburg does not apply! If you use this route, you have to adjust to a detour via Passau, as the train is on the road with a large arc and does not stop in Hungary. This affects important cities such as Budapest and Györ - a real chaos for travelers!

total lock ensures traffic chaos

This total lock is particularly hard. The connection from Munich to Klagenfurt comes to a complete standstill, which is extremely annoying not only for travelers to Salzburg, but also for those who want to travel to Austria. The previous, at least partially running train traffic has now come to a standstill and affects stops from Munich Hbf via Rosenheim to the border town of Freilassing. Deutsche Bahn had worked with partial barriers since October 15 - the final total lock by November 4th now means an even greater burden for many travelers.

The ÖBB is concerned about the time of this lock: "Not the cheapest time," said spokesman Christoph Gasser-Mair. While Deutsche Bahn tries to minimize the effects for its customers, travelers are forced to drastically redesign their travel plans. Above all, short trip lovers to Salzburg will have to expect significant delays and detours in the next two weeks.
