Pirna. From Monday, October 14th, construction work for a new walking and bike path will begin. These measures apply in particular to Dippoldiswalder Straße and Zehistaer Straße, as the city administration announced in a press release.

In the period from October 14th to November 25th, Dippoldiswalder Straße will be blocked on half-sided, especially at the parking lot exit at Lidl. The traffic is regulated by a traffic light at this point, which means that there will be frequent changes in traffic routing.

Details on the cycle path construction

In addition, Zehistaer Straße from October 14th to December 13th between Kohlbergstraße and the Einsteinstrasse roundabout will also be blocked. In this section, the road may only be driven towards the Zehista; The traffic leading into the city is diverted via the motorway feeder, whereby the detour route is signposted accordingly.

The construction work is related to the new cycle path in the Gottleubatal. The first construction phase, which has been in the works since summer 2023, extends to a length of 1.7 kilometers. This new bike path begins at the B172 at the "Auto-Schulz" car dealership and will run parallel to the northern edge of the cemetery before crossing Dippoldiswalder Straße. The route then leads further northwest of the construction ring, crosses different streets and ends near Rottwerndorfer Straße on an existing bike path.

For the first section of the bike path, investments of 1.45 million euros are planned, with 85 percent of these costs being funded by the Free State of Saxony via the State Office for Road Construction and Traffic. The work on the first phase of construction should be completed by the end of November; However, details about the implementation of further construction phases are still unclear. Despite the prospect of restrictions on city traffic, there is no change in bus traffic.
